Subject: Tech's New Self-Image

"We're better than Kentucky and Vanderbilt...not quite as good as Ole
Miss and Mississippi State". (Per Lindy's- thanks, O & B).

So tech would project out as the fifth-best team in a seven-team SEC
East, according to that ranking; they'd be seventh out of seven in the
SEC West. They'd have great hopes of nipping at fourth in the SECW,
with the Mississippi teams (whom they were once too good to even play)
and Arkansas all within twelve places in the rankings. But they'd
have a tough road to catch the mighty Chicken people for fourth in
the East- the farmer's chattel nip at the fringes of an actual ranking
at 27, more than doubling up poor tech at 58.

Overall, Lindy's sees tech as the eleventh best team in a
thirteen-team SEC. But here's the catch: how many losses would tech
have on an SEC schedule? Also, provided tech managed to scrape up six
wins (catch Kentucky, Vanderbilt at home; schedule Samford, Navy,
College of Charleston, and Woodrow Wilson Law- all before playing
Florida, LSU, Auburn, etc., and getting their whole squad banged up
and traumatized) would any bowl affiliated with the SEC take tech? Or
would they have to pray for an at-large match-up with blood rival
Clemson in the Gallery Furniture Dot-com Wolfman and Donna Bowl?
